PLOT LUCK

is a thriving Special Interest Group (SIG) which attracts a diverse and dedicated group of members who like to let their creative sides out of play once a month. We play different games, some of which have an obvious story connection (see Story with Style below), while others are more about limbering up our imagination, sparking our spontaneity and fosrtering a willingness to take a risk and jump in.

Sometimes it doesn't work, but sometimes it all comes together and we create moments or scenes that we find hugely enjoyable.

This Archive is intended both as a celebration of these comical moments, as well as offering useful commentary/learning points as we reflect post-improv on what we like/learnt, for the group is about helping each other to develop our confidence and competence when improvising.

If you aren't a member of PLOT LUCK, we hope this page gives you a good feel of its happy, relaxed and supportive nature. You are welcome to join. You need to be a member of FEAST, and there's a $5 annual fee (valid from July to June) which you can pay via the Additonal Miscellaneous Charge panel in your profile page.

NO SMILES ALLOWED

An apparently simple game - simply play a scene without smiling!

Some people seem to find this much easier to do than others, but by focusing on the scene - in most cases a job interview - the apparent seriousness works (See Diep's 'confusion' which she mentions in the Reflection. alla's point that playing live (with audience laughter in your face) would make this more difficult!

STORIES WITH STYLE - GOLDILOCKS

We choose a style - in this case sports commentary - and then a story (Goldilocks) We decide who's doing which part of the story -(online this is helpful; live it's not necessary, as the non-telling players queueing up would signal who wanted to jump in next) Story proper begins at about 3.25

Sports commentary allows for different tempos (horse racing is different from cricket) and energies (the hush of a snooker competiition)

STORIES WITH STYLE - GINGERBREAD MAN

Our version of Gingerbread Man - as a couple ofp layers were not familiar with the story, Priti provides a commendable 1-minute summary. The story begins about 2.25 mark.

Note that the ending turns darker and decidedly adult with some innuendo and double entendre. As Diep says afterwards (for this story is a favourite of her young daughter which diep is asked to tll multiple times a week!) she will never be able to hear it in the same way again.

THREE LITTLE PIGS - The Musical!

Continuing our sweries of stories told in a particular genre or style. Meenu, Pretigaya, Priyanka, Roger and Shradda have fun in a vairety of styles (some more musical than others!)
